Fees
50% of fees are payable in advance, with balance paid on completion.
- Full Developmental Edit
- £0.02 per word, for first 1 – 10k words, then £0.01 per word over 10k words.
- Example: 80,000 word manuscript developmental edit would cost £200 for the first 10000 words, then £700 for the other 70,000 words, totalling £900, of which £450 would need to be paid in advance if I agree to edit your manuscript
- The developmental edit looks for any inconsistencies, audience appropriate language, issues with plot, pacing, repetition, overuse of certain words/phrases.
- Helps to improve and hone writing skills. A page of detailed feedback notes is provided, with recommendations and suggestions offered where appropriate.
- Note: You must be open to constructive criticism, negative as well as positive, which I provide with an honesty designed to maximise the quality of you manuscript and help you impriove as a writer
- You should submit a finished manuscript that has been through at least one re-write, preferably following feedback from at least one beta reader. Attempt a developmental edit too early could be overwhelming and require a further developmental/structural edit. It’s best to make use of your networks for an honest beta read and take on board any feedback before paying for a developmental edit
- £0.02 per word, for first 1 – 10k words, then £0.01 per word over 10k words.
- Line and Copy Editing
- £0.015 per word, for first 1 – 10k words, then £0.0075 per word over 10k words.
- Example: 80000 word manuscript would cost £150 for the first 10,000 words, and £525 for the remaining 70,000 words, totalling £675, £337.50 on acceptance, £337.50 on completion
- Reviews clarity and readability, checks for consistency and accuracy, flow.
- Fixes grammar, spelling and punctuation. Offers suggestions as needed.
- £0.015 per word, for first 1 – 10k words, then £0.0075 per word over 10k words.
- Proof Read
- £0.01 per word, for first 1 – 10k words, then £0.005 per word over 10k words.
- Example: 80,000 word manuscript would cost £100 for first 10,000 words and £350 for the remaining 70,000 words, totalling £450, £225 payable on acceptance, £225 payable on completion
- Checks the final polished copy prior to print for any minor missed issues/errors, such as typos and inconsistent formatting.
- £0.01 per word, for first 1 – 10k words, then £0.005 per word over 10k words.
