I know this feeling well; generally I write everything in a notebook first – reviews and short stories. By the time they get to my laptop they have changed slightly and then when they see the light of day they change again. Editing, and the time away from whatever you’re writing in between edits, is important. It helps me find errors in a piece, gives me the chance to change things round or improve the way I’ve written the piece, and a chance to think about what I’m trying to say.
