30 Days of Creative Writing:Day 21

Today’s exercise is about humour in writing, specifically parody. We’re going to parody a dictionary. I’ve been given a list of words and have to define them a la Ambrose Bierce’s ‘The Devil’s Dictionary’.

This could be amusing. Apparently I write funny when I’m extremely tired, or a bit drunk. I am neither at the moment.

Rosie’s Writers Dictionary for the Digital Age

Blogs: Internet based journal, open to all and sundry…
EBay: A tool to remove any cash you earn from your pocket, without the agony of opening your wallet…
Ebooks: A necessary evil if you need to carry a library with you; a means for poor writers to display their wares…
Internet: A useful tool with which to lose time; a disembodied gossip…

It’s not my best work. Perhaps I should get the vodka out and then try again?

I might have to get a copy of the Ambrose Bierce book, the extract I’ve read is very funny.

Bye,

Rose
