Set in the village of Adderstey, and full of *erhum* unique characters, this humorous take on village life in the mid-1980’s follows the villagers through a year of births, deaths, marriages, faintly criminal activity and amateur dramatics.
It took me a while to really get into this book, spending a good two weeks on the first 70 pages, but reading the remaining 130 this evening. It certainly picks up sometime around November. The book rolled along nicely after that.
I liked the book well enough and it gave me a couple of giggles but no belly laughs. It was well written, though.
