You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself.
But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.
You thought you were fine with your arrangement, but you can’t help yourself: you track her down, and, under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then, Hannah starts showing up to your coffee dates with telltale bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever.
Who exactly is your husband, and how far would you go to find the truth? Would you risk your own life?
And who is his mysterious third wife?

My Review
I’ve been listening to this book as I’ve been pottering about the house and wondering around town. Thursday is married. Her husband has two other wives but they don’t know each other. Until the day Thursday finds a piece of paper with one of the other wives’ details. Tempted, she goes on a hunt. But things don’t go so well and Thursday ends up in the hospital. Everyone thinks she’s mad, but she’s not. She’s absolutely certain she’s not.
Except nothing is what it seems.
Told in the first person, from Thursday’s perspective, we see the slow falling apart of Thursday, her recovering and then the falling apart again. You can’t quite tell who the villain is, is it Seth? Is it one of the other wives? Is it Thursday herself? What is really happening? You get glimpses of reality through the delusions but they’re filtered through Thursday’s perspective so it’s hard to discern.
I found the unfolding of the story, of the slow revealing of the truth, absolutely gripping. The end was absolutely shocking and unexpected. You are left wanting to know what happened to Thursday afterwards.
Fantastic thriller. Very well read by the narrator.
