‘Gratitude is the wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk.’ Rumi
Being grateful is easy…
…when everything goes according to plan.
But how do you keep at it no matter what life throws at you?
Enter 365 Days of Gratitude, the undated daily journal that will help you stay on track.
After years of barely surviving her own emotional minefield, writing coach Mariëlle S. Smith discovered the transformative power of practising gratitude. But, like no one else, she knows that cultivating an attitude of gratitude is easier said than done.
Complete with inspiring quotes, daily prompts, and recurring check-ins, the 365 Days of Gratitude Journal encourages you to create a sustainable gratitude practice too.

My Review
This is an unusual one for me. Normally with these sorts of self-help books I post an extract and leave it for you to decide, but this time I agreed to review. I have a PDF of this journal so I can’t write in it, but I have a notebook that I journal in anyway. It helps, when my brain weasels are playing silly buggers, to write things down and get them settled straight. Pinning a situation down on paper helps me to cope.
Anyway, this journal. I decided to experiment, after reading the introduction and scanning through the format, with writing down the daily questions and trying to journal for four weeks. That’s all the time I had between reading it and positing the review. (It’s Friday 31st July, as I write.) I will tell you how it went, later.
The introduction is cheerfully set out and explains the authors journaling journey, the purpose of the journal and development of the daily questions. The journal is undated and has a page-a-day format. Each evening you are supposed to answer the questions, giving yourself a few minutes to reflect on the day. I think the questions could lead to insight for some people, and might help with noting mood or anxiety issues.
The experiment results
After one week:
I only managed 3 days before things got busy and I got forgetful.
After a fortnight:
Failed massively to keep up with the gratitude journaling. It might be easier if I had a physical book to write it in rather than having to remember to write out the questions every day. I have tried to think about what I’m grateful for every day, even though I don’t always manage to.
After three weeks:
As Above
After four weeks:
The Verdict
