As Gloria’s world unravels around her, she has to team up with friends new and old to escape not only her husband’s clutches, but also the country, even if that means giving up everything.

GLORIA BOOK BLOG TOUR – Extract 2
In this extract, we see Gloria’s reaction after discovering her husband Greg’s terrible secret.
At the sound of Greg’s Mercedes creeping up the driveway, Gloria snapped out of her stupor and sat bolt upright. Was it that time already? She had been on the floor of Greg’s study for hours, numb, her body overcome with horror and disbelief at what she had discovered. Trying to keep her breathing quiet, she cocked her ear up to listen, and soon heard Greg’s shoes casually crunching up the driveway towards the house.
‘Shit!’
She scrambled to her feet and dashed out of the room, barely remembering to close the door behind her as the front door swung open downstairs, announcing Greg’s entrance. Gloria was about to head downstairs when she realised she still held the Genisolve catalogue, tightly grasped between her shaking fingers. Holding her breath, she tiptoed across the landing towards the master bedroom, hoping her clumsy feet wouldn’t betray where she was fleeing from. Now she knew why Greg kept his study off-limits, Gloria could only imagine how he would react to finding her in there, especially after what she saw last night.
Gloria had just reached the stairs when Greg appeared in the kitchen doorway. She froze, throwing her hand behind her back to hide the catalogue. Her mouth went dry as she silently waited for Greg’s next move, her mind racing as she tried and failed to figure out what to say should she be discovered. The seconds seemed to drag on forever, and still, Gloria didn’t move. Her breathing resumed as Greg failed to notice her presence and sauntered across the hallway into the living room, an opened bottle of beer in his hand. Gloria’s legs nearly gave way in relief as she dashed into the safety of her bedroom.
