It’s bank holiday weekend…

..And I spent it at work.

But not tomorrow.

So tonight I’m getting quite drunk while watching series 1 of ‘Game of Thrones.’ I haven’t seen it yet, or read the books. It’s rather good so far. I really need to get to books. Apparently the series is close to the books with minor sub-plots that aren’t in the books.

Each episode is nearly an hour long and I’m quite tired since I was at work at six this morning and haven’t had a nap today. we will probably carry on with the rest of the series tomorrow. Our library has series two. If I had any cash I’d pop in on Tuesday and borrow the DVD’s for a week.

Something light hearted before I start posting book reviews

Reckless Love (hyperactive glam rock band from Finland – very 80’s!) release their new album ‘Spirit’ a week today. Today they released the video for one of the songs on that album. The song is called ‘So happy I could die’, and it really is a cheerful tune.

Lists work for me; goal setting my way through the piles of work I have to do.

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I have trouble getting anything done without deadlines and have been trying to rectify this.

I’ve made a start. On Tuesday night I wrote a list if goals for the month and then the week and then daily. Yesterday I succeeded in completing all my daily goals and two of my weekly goals. Today I complete another of those goals.

It would appear from this that the lists work! Now I just have to see if I can keep going.

My daily routine, or lack thereof

This month I’ve only worked weekends, there being no overtime available, and when I haven’t been at work I’ve had things on. Now I’ve got nothing planned until October, and no overtime coming up. The result? Sleeping too much, eating too much and boredom.

Halestorm release video for ‘Here’s to us’

One of my favourite bands, Halestorm, who I saw in Nottingham in March, has released a video for their song ‘Here’s to us’. This is a beautiful song live as well as on the album. Have a listen.

2nd anniversary of blogging celebratory post

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I’ve just realised I’ve been blogging on wordpress for exactly two years now. Things have changed a bit since I started writing my posts; for a start I can now update my blog from my phone instead of waiting until i could get my laptop to a WiFi connection.

I used to mainly write fiction but that has changed in the last year or so, now I mainly publish my book reviews with the odd music review thrown in for good measure. My writing has gone from something I do occasionally to entertain myself to being the activity that occupies the majority of my time and energy.

Now if only I could make a living from it…

Well, I’m going now, I’m trying to watch a film with my friends,

NetGalley

I’ve joined http://www.netgalley.com, and so far I have four books to read/review, two fiction and two non-fiction. I’m still getting to grips with how it all works. Profile building has been the most difficult for me so far, since I never know what to put in those things.

It looks like a good resource for professional readers (their term for reviewers and book bloggers) and publishers wanting to get e-books reviewed.

I’m going to see how things go.

Bye

Recovering from a day out in Leeds

I’m visiting a friend in Yorkshire for a few days and yesterday we spent the day in Leeds. It was very tiring and interesting. I have had a headache since waiting for the bus to come back to the village I’m staying in.

Leeds has quite a lot of shops, there is something for every taste. And as the train and bus stations are fairly close to the city centre quite easily accessible. There are also maps and decent sign-posting for the easily lost and confused.
