These Images Show Just How Hard Won The Vote Was for Women (and Why You Should Vote on May 7)
Saturday morning at the lake
I was on auntie duties this morning; my nephew needed a guardian while he’s at his fishing club. So there I was.
It’s rather lovely, I haden’t been to this particular park in Immingham for at least twenty-five years. It had changed a lot.
The park is a lot better, there’s a skate park now and the lake is so much bigger than I remembered.

Lincoln, how I adore thee
For thy lovely bookshops.
But not the hill. I’m still suffering from fatigue and leg cramps because of Steep Hill.
A selection of new books from Llewellyn, reviewed
On this lovely day, I should like to share three reviews with you dear readers. As usual I got the ARC’s from http://www.netgalley.com; it’s a good place for amateur reviewers to get books early, but you don’t get to keep them; they expire 55 days after being downloaded, and sometimes I have to download them again.

Friday!
Good morning, you may be surprised to hear it but I feel…I was going to say content, but I’m not because I can feel the anxiety growing in my chest, so I’ll go with ‘almost normal’ instead. By ‘normal’ I mean ‘able to function in society’. Continue reading “Friday!”
Remarks on Capital, Women’s Liberation, and Deicide
Reblogging to read later.
By John Monroe
In particular, Marx neglects the role of the witch-hunts, which was a major war on women where hundreds of thousands of women were arrested, tortured, killed, burned on village squares. Restoring Sovereignty and the Path Forward
Lia Fail – Hill of Tara photo by Ken Williams http://www.shadowandstone.com
(also posted at Strixian Woods)
The world we have inherited is one where the Sovereignty of the Land has been broken. It’s not a single person’s fault. It’s not a specific generation’s fault. Throughout history, humanity has made a series of choices that have separated us from the spirit of the land, from the Otherworld, from nature itself. Our broken Sovereignty reveals itself in our poisoned rivers and oceans that are becoming barren, in the extinction of species and our dwindling biodiversity, in our melting icecaps and rising seas. Our unhealthy relationship to the Sovereignty of the Land is perpetuated when we vilify the poor instead of aiding them, when we foolishly act as if we have dominion over the Earth rather than acting as stewards of it, and when we turn our backs on justice in this…

Earth Day 2015
I’m back, the dogs have been out in the garden, I’m contemplating breakfast, and I’ve decided that a slightly more upbeat post is necessary, since I do feel better now. Writing = catharsis.Continue reading “Earth Day 2015”
