Moving day cometh and I have loads of books.

Almost.

I am packed. The washing machine is running through a last load before I put some cleaning stuff in it. The fridge-freezer has been turned off, ready for both to be collected tomorrow morning. My internet gets turned off tomorrow but I’ll be back online on Saturday afternoon when my new house gets connected up.

I am stressed. It’s not fun, this moving lark. The clinical psychiatrist I was seeing to sort out my anxiety and depression says because of my obsessive and ritualistic traits any change in my routine causes upset and anxiety. There is nothing more disturbing to my routine than moving. Everything is out of place because I’ve had to pack it all up and I really don’t like my stuff being moved about.

I collect my keys and sign the paperwork tomorrow afternoon. I shall be calmer once that is done and then I’ll really relax once I’m moved, and have got everything back in its place.

A box of books arrived today, from Pen & Sword books. Two more arrived on Tuesday from HQ, and I also received a book from an author who had contacted me directly for a review. That’s ten books this week. I have so much to read, it’s brilliant. It’ll keep me entertained for a few weeks anyway. At the moment I’m reading Best Day Ever  by Kaira Rouda from HQ. I’m enjoying it so far.

Update: 25th July 2016

Good evening readers, I thought it might be time for a bit of an update, since I’ve been so quiet this month on the reviewing front. I’m tired. It’s the heat and the amount of light; I sleep at odd hours and I’m not really in the mood to look at a screen all day because my eyes hurt. Continue reading “Update: 25th July 2016”

Quick post

Hi, I’m ill again, horrible cold. As soon as I’m better I’ll have three book reviews up. Until then I’m afraid I won’t be posting anything; I can only manage to stay awake for an hour at a time. I suspect this cold will be a bad one; I started coughing the same day I felt the other symptoms start. It’s a fairly reliable indicator, for me at least, that the earlier I start coughing the worse the infection will be.

Question…

I’m currently reading a book I’m reviewing for Book Hub Inc, and it’s sending me batty. I’ve never reviewed books for other people before; I generally read something because it’s taken my interest and then write about it. But I thought I’d give it a go.

I chose a non-fiction book that the title and blurb suggested was scientific in nature. I’m about a third of the way through it, and I want to slap the author. No, really I do. My question is, when I write my review how blunt am I allowed to be? Is, say, a variation on ‘the author is ignorant and talking out of their arse’ too much? My ‘I don’t like misinformation’ sense is screaming, thus the itchy palms.

I might be forced to write two reviews, the polite version for the company I’m reviewing for, and the blunt version for here. They’ll both say the same thing, just with different words.

Right, back to it.
